CHOIR MEMBER GUIDELINES
ATTENDANCE
Choir members are required to attend all rehearsals. Arrive on time and stay for the entire rehearsal. Know that missing a rehearsal may result in you being moved to an alternate list or released from the choir. Choir leadership and priesthood leaders will make decisions regarding excused absences for emergencies on a case by case basis.
DRESS AND GROOMING
For all rehearsals and the performance, please wear modest clothing well within the guidelines outlined in For the Strength of Youth. Sunday dress is requested for rehearsals. The following guidelines apply to the dress rehearsal and performance. Please follow additional instructions from the choir manager.

CONDUCT
For all rehearsals and the performance, please sit in your assigned seat. Be attentive and responsive to all instructions, and refrain from talking, eating, drinking, or chewing gum. Remember that the way you look and the way you behave affects the spirit of the meeting. Doing the following will help you to look and sing your best:
CAMERAS
Photographs may be taken from the auditorium seating area, but still cameras are not allowed in the choir loft. Cell phones must be turned off while in the choir loft. Due to copyright issues, video cameras are not allowed in the Conference Center theater or auditorium.
MEDICATIONS
Please take needed medications before entering the choir loft and be prepared for allergy complications. Most flowers in the Conference Center are artificial, but occasionally live ferns and flowers are added.
MISCELLANEOUS
For security purposes, parents, family, friends, and carpool drives will not be permitted in the conference center for the dress rehearsal. In addition, please do not bring family or friends to our regular rehearsals. Each choir member will receive a security credential for performance day. This credential is what gets you into the conference center. For security purposes, choir members should NOT take pictures of this credential. Sharing pictures of these credentials will result in immediate dismissal from the choir.

Women
- Please wear a black skirt, black shoes, and a blouse as directed by a dress committee chairman. Skirt hems and slits should be well below the knee when seated.
- Blouses should be of a solid, approved color.
- Sleeves should be to the elbows or longer for uniformity.
- For uniformity, please do not wear nylons.
- Please do not wear jewelry. Wedding rings and watches may be worn.
- Shoes should be black, closed toe, no extreme high heels, and should be worn for both the dress rehearsal and performance.
- Comb hair away from your face.
- Please avoid wearing heavy make-up but use lipstick and blush.
- Please do not use perfume, cologne, scented lotions, or hair spray. Allergies to such products can restrict breathing.
Men
- Please wear a white shirt and a dark suit.
- Please choose ties that are dark or subdued in color with conservative patterns, and within the color guidelines as directed by the wardrobe committee.
- Shoes and socks should be dark enough to appear black.
- Please do not wear lapel pins, tie tacks, earrings, or other jewelry. Wedding rings and watches may be worn.
- Please have fresh missionary haircuts.
- Please come clean shaven, including sideburns, mustache and beard.
Personal Items
- Large bags, packages, and back-packs are NOT allowed in the Conference Center.
- Light coats or sweaters may be taken into the Conference Center, but must be stored under your seat.
- Necessary items may be kept in a pocket or small purse which will fit below your seat.
- All purses will be tagged for security purposes when you enter the building.

- When you stand to sing, please keep your arms at your sides, stand up straight, and look at the director.
- Avoid looking at the television monitors, cameras, or camera operators.
- Open your eyes and smile often—it will brighten your face.
- During the prayers, close your eyes and bow your head.
- While sitting, please keep your hands in your lap. Any motions you make with your hands may distract the audience from the speaker.
- Please do not cross your legs or put them in the aisles.
- Try not to yawn, clear your throat, or cough during the meeting. If you must do these things, do not put your hand to your mouth.
